Workplace Safety, Resilience & Hope

I believe in the power of workplace safety and the resilient, transformative nature of the human spirit. High levels of safety engagement in the workplace can reduce the vast majority of injuries to workers. For those of us who, nonetheless, experience a life-altering injury, there is hope for renewal. My message is based on the truth that every challenge—no matter how severe—is an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Through my message, I invite your organization on a journey to unlock your potential and embrace the infinite possibilities that life offers. Remember, the only limits that exist are the ones we impose on ourselves. Together we can rewrite your story and create a future of success and fulfillment.

My name is Michael Coss. I am a motivational speaker, author, fundraiser, and UBC Health Sciences patient educator. I would have never had the opportunity to follow this vocation if it hadn’t been for a severe traumatic brain injury in 2006. As a 2012 recipient of the Courage to Come Back Award, I have spoken to large and small crowds alike, most recently to the Canadian Association of Neuroscience Nurses 55th Annual Scientific Conference (Toronto, 2024).

I am available to share my message of resilience and success at your next organizational event with a question-and-answer period to follow. Upon special request, my father, Bob Coss, who has been by my side for the past 18 years, will join me to share his wisdom and discuss the incredible results of the hyperbaric oxygen treatment that awoke me from a 6-month coma.

Michael Coss is a special individual; there is no mistaking his zest for life. After his accident, Michael has made, and continues to make, miraculous progress with his own recovery, which is incredibly inspirational.

Ron Newell

Michael has demonstrated numerous qualities as a valuable person in the community. In addition to this, I have observed him being polite, hard-working and probably one of the most inspirational men I know.

Eric Fielder

I have witnessed his rehab development through, what many believed could have been the most impossible physical and cognitive hurdles a client with a severe brain with  physical injuries may have faced.

Alisha Patterson, RMT

Michael’s presentations are not only informative but also deeply inspiring, leaving a lasting impact on everyone present.

Rachel Elizabeth Brownrigg

As a former student member of this program, I had the privilege of being mentored by Michael and I can attest to his exceptional passion for helping others.

Juliet Henderson-Rahbar, MDiv

Michael presents with a beautiful combination of professional communication and personal charisma. He tells the story of his lived experience as a survivor of a severe traumatic brain injury—a story very few can begin to imagine.

Unleash Your Potential

Let Michael’s story motivate your employees to be the best that they can be at all times, and work in a mode of practicing safety at all times.
